🚨 UPI RULES CHANGING FROM 15 OCTOBER 2026
UPI payments above ₹2,000 at eligible merchants will face new Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges.
💳 Standard eligible transactions: 0.4% MDR
⛽ Fuel transactions: ₹5 flat MDR
👤 Customers: No UPI transaction fee — the charge is imposed on merchants.
🏪 Small merchants: Certain small merchants remain exempt.
Some petrol-pump and trader associations have said they may stop accepting high-value UPI payments because of the additional cost.
