Timeline of the Jane Doe Alleged Events: October 19–20, 2024

The following timeline is based on allegations and accounts attributed to Jane Doe in her lawsuit, police interviews, and investigative documents. It describes what she reportedly said happened that night. These allegations have not been established as proven facts in court, and the accused have denied wrongdoing.

🕣 8:30 PM — Leaving the Sorority House

According to Jane Doe’s account, she had already been drinking vodka at her sorority house and was significantly intoxicated. At approximately 8:30 PM, she reportedly left the house with the sorority’s house mother in an Uber and traveled toward a bar in Ithaca.

🕘 Around 9:00 PM — First Bar

According to her account, she was served alcohol at the bar despite being under 21. She reportedly had an “X” marked on her hand, indicating that she was under the legal drinking age.

🕙 Around 10:00 PM — Second Bar

At approximately 10 PM, Jane Doe reportedly went to another bar with other sorority members. She said she was given an under-21 wristband and later left the establishment alone.

🕚 Around 11:00 PM — Chi Phi Fraternity House

At approximately 11 PM, she reportedly went alone to the Chi Phi fraternity house because she wanted to meet someone she knew.

According to her lawsuit, she had consumed the equivalent of approximately 10 standard alcoholic drinks by that point and was visibly intoxicated.

🕚 After 11 PM — Initially Consensual Sexual Encounter

Jane Doe reportedly told police that sexual activity initially occurred with two men whom she knew. She described that initial encounter as consensual.

However, according to her account, the situation subsequently changed and she did not consent to the sexual activity that followed.

🌙 Later — Allegations of Drugs and Additional Alcohol

According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe was given additional alcohol and was pressured to consume ketamine and marijuana. She alleged that her level of intoxication severely impaired her ability to make decisions and that she eventually became incapacitated.

🕐 1:42 AM — Snapchat Message

At approximately 1:42 AM on October 20, according to the lawsuit, a member of the fraternity sent a message to a Snapchat group identified as “Chi Phi Actives.” The message allegedly indicated that a woman was upstairs and that others could come over.

According to Jane Doe’s allegations, several additional fraternity members subsequently entered the room.

🕐 After 1:42 AM — Alleged Sexual Assault

Jane Doe alleged that by this point she was extremely intoxicated and unable to protect herself or give meaningful consent.

She further alleged that she was pressured to consume additional ketamine and that multiple men engaged in sexual acts with her without her consent.

The specific allegations are not described here in graphic detail. The central allegation is that she did not consent to the sexual activity during this later period.

🕔 Around 5:45 AM — Alleged Loss of Consciousness

According to the lawsuit, the alleged events continued for several hours. Jane Doe reportedly became unconscious at approximately 5:45 AM.

🌅 Morning — Return to the Sorority House

Later that morning, she reportedly regained consciousness and returned to her sorority house.

According to investigators’ accounts of interviews with her roommates, she appeared to be in shock. The roommates reportedly said that she did not initially describe what happened using the words “rape” or “sexual assault.”

According to Jane Doe’s later account, she gradually came to understand the experience as sexual assault. She has also said that, approximately a week later, comments she encountered online contributed to her understanding of the alleged incident as a gang rape.

Important Dispute Over the Accounts

A significant issue in the case concerns differences that have reportedly been identified between Jane Doe’s early and later descriptions of the night.

In a November 2024 police interview, she reportedly stated clearly that she had been raped. However, a later summary provided by police to prosecutors reportedly did not characterize her statement in exactly the same way.

No charges were filed in 2024. According to the information described above, the case was reopened in 2026, with New York Attorney General Letitia James serving as special prosecutor in the investigation.

The case remains subject to investigation and legal proceedings, and the allegations should not be treated as judicially established facts.
