The Union Government has approved amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 to crack down on exam paper leaks and cheating networks. The proposed changes include up to 10 years' imprisonment, fines up to ₹10 crore, and stricter action against organized syndicates involved in leaking and selling question papers. Fast-track courts and investigators will be required to complete cases and deliver verdicts within three months. The amended bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament next week.
