The Dutch government officially handed over a looted artefac
The Dutch government officially handed over a looted artefact to the Egyptian government in a ceremony in the Hague Thursday. The sculpture, depicting a senior official from the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III (1479–1425 BC), surfaced at an art fair in 2022.
Following an investigation by Dutch police, it was found to have been taken illegally from Luxor in Egypt. "This restitution confirms a sense of dignity to the nation of Egypt. It empowers Egypt to tell her own history’’ said Egyptian ambassador to the Netherlands Emad M Hanna.
