Meta faces up to $1.4 trillion in potential penalties in a U.S. youth-safety lawsuit.

Four U.S. states — California, Colorado, Kentucky and New Jersey — are seeking potentially up to $1.4 trillion in penalties from Meta.

They allege that Facebook and Instagram were deliberately designed to be addictive to children and teenagers and that Meta misled the public about safety risks.
