Will Money Lose Its Importance by 2036? Elon Musk’s Vision of the Future

Elon Musk believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robots will develop so rapidly in the coming years that money may become much less important by 2036.

He shared this vision during an interview with The Economist.

Why Did He Say This?

There are five main reasons behind his thinking.

1. AI Will Perform Better Than Humans

In the future, AI could outperform humans in education, healthcare, engineering, research, and many other fields.

2. Robots Will Perform Most Jobs

Humanoid robots could work in factories, agriculture, construction, and even in our homes.

3. Production of Goods Will Increase Significantly

If AI and robots start producing goods on a massive scale, production costs and prices could decrease.

4. Working Will No Longer Be a Necessity

Musk imagines a future where people will not have to work just to fulfil their basic needs. Instead, they will be able to work according to their interests and personal choices.

5. Universal High Income

He believes governments could provide financial support to people so that their basic needs are met, even if AI reduces employment opportunities.

Imagine a Future Like This

Suppose, in the future:

* AI doctors provide healthcare services.
* Robots grow food through agriculture.
* Robots build houses.
* AI teachers provide education.
* Automated vehicles provide transportation.
* Robots manufacture products in factories.

If all these services become extremely affordable and easily accessible, people may not need as much money as they do today to fulfil their basic needs.

But There Is One Big Question!

If AI and robots can produce almost everything, who will own them?

* Will everyone have equal access to facilities and resources?
* Will the gap between rich and poor disappear?
* Will everyone receive a share of the wealth generated by robots?
* If people no longer have jobs, where will their income come from?

The Most Important Point

Elon Musk’s prediction is a possible vision of the future, not a scientifically proven outcome or a guaranteed timeline.

Along with technological development, ownership and distribution of resources will also play an important role.

A reduction in the importance of money and the complete disappearance of money are two different things.

The Final Question

Who will determine the future: AI and robots, or human beings?
