The UAE has announced a nationwide social media ban for children under 15 years old.
Under the new rules:
Children under 15 cannot create or use social media accounts.
Platforms must identify and disable accounts belonging to under-15 users.
Users aged 15–16 can access social media only with extra protections such as parental controls, content filters, and restrictions on interactions with strangers.
Social media companies have up to 12 months to comply with the regulations.
The UAE is the first Arab country to introduce such a restriction, joining a growing list of countries tightening social media access for minors.
