Bengaluru has had a severe pre-monsoon weather swing: record
Bengaluru has had a severe pre-monsoon weather swing: record-breaking downpours this week caused major flooding, traffic disruptions, underpass closures (including KR Circle), uprooted trees, and multiple deaths in rain-related incidents. The city recorded around 111 mm in 24 hours—its wettest April spell on record—and IMD has warned of more thunderstorms and strong winds over the next couple of days.
Right now, conditions are hot between storms, but expect intermittent afternoon/evening thunderstorm risk through the coming week, so travel may still be affected during heavy bursts. If you’re commuting, watch for waterlogging hotspots and traffic advisories, especially in low-lying areas.
