A tiny 3-day-old elephant calf was swept kilometres downstream in the Teesta’s fierce current,while its mother waited helplessly on the bank. Local fishermen and forest teams raced through the waves, pulled the baby to safety, and brought it home.
The moment the mother saw her calf, she rushed through the water, wrapped her trunk around it, and began nursing without a second’s hesitation.
