The Øresund Bridge is a remarkable engineering structure that connects the countries of Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund Strait. Opened in 2000, it links the Danish capital Copenhagen with the Swedish city Malmö, making travel between the two countries fast and convenient.

What makes the Øresund Bridge unique is its combined design—it is both a bridge and a tunnel. The structure starts as a long bridge from Sweden, then connects to an artificial island called Peberholm, and finally continues as an underwater tunnel (the Drogden Tunnel) to Denmark. This design was chosen to allow ships and airplanes (near Copenhagen Airport) to pass safely.

The total length of the crossing is about 16 kilometers, with the bridge portion stretching around 8 kilometers. It carries both road traffic and railway lines, making it an important link for commuters and trade. The bridge has not only improved transportation but also strengthened economic and cultural ties between Denmark and Sweden, effectively creating a shared regional area often called the Øresund Region.
