Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that the electronics component technology for the ambitious Hyperloop project will be developed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The announcement came during his visit to the Hyperloop testing facility at IIT Madras Discovery Campus, where he observed a live demonstration of the cutting-edge technology.
Highlighting a key milestone, Minister Vaishnaw noted that the 410-meter-long Hyperloop test tube at IIT Chennai stands as Asia’s longest Hyperloop test facility. Speaking to journalists, he praised the indigenous development of the entire testing system, crediting the young innovators involved in the project for their remarkable achievement.
The Minister expressed optimism about India’s readiness for Hyperloop transportation, stating that ongoing tests have shown promising results. He emphasized that the technology, still in development, is poised to revolutionize high-speed travel. The Railway Ministry has extended both financial and technical support to the project, with ICF Chennai now tasked with developing all electronics technology for the Hyperloop.
Drawing parallels with past successes, Vaishnaw pointed out that ICF’s skilled experts, who engineered large electronics systems for the Vande Bharat high-speed trains, are well-equipped to advance Hyperloop technology. He concluded by congratulating the IIT Chennai team and the Avishkar organization for their successful testing efforts, signaling a bright future for India in next-generation transportation.
