🧑 Who was Swami Dayanand Saraswati? • He was the founder of Arya Samaj (1875) • They used to give a message of back to the vedas to the Vedas • Pagan, opposed to superstition and casteism • They raised their voice in favor of social reform, education and women's rights , ☠️ Why and how were they given poison?
🔹 Event: • In 1883, Swamiji went to invitation of Maharaja Jaswant Singh in Jodhpur. • He criticized the immorality and corruption prevailing in the Raj Durbar there, especially with the girlfriend (maid) of a court of Maharaj.
🔹 Conspiracy: • It is believed that some people were irritated by this true and fearless teachings of Swamiji. • Unhappy with his criticism, some people associated with the court conspired to gradually poison him.
🔹 Confirmation of poison: • A servant, named Jagannath, gave him poison mixed with contaminated milk. • After this, his health deteriorated - symptoms like vomiting, bleeding, pain. • Treatment was negligent, and eventually died on 30 October 1883.
