1) Which countries are included worldwide?
The World Happiness Report 2025 includes 147 countries from across the globe.
It covers almost all major and minor sovereign countries from:
β’ Europe
β’ North America
β’ Latin America
β’ Asia
β’ Africa
β’ Oceania
2) How is the ranking decided?
Each countryβs happiness ranking is based on peopleβs self-reported life satisfaction (on a scale of 0β10) and analysis of key social and economic factors.
The ranking is mainly based on 6 core factors:
1. GDP per capita
β Average income and economic well-being of people.
2. Social support
β Whether people have family, friends, or community support in times of need.
3. Healthy life expectancy
β How long and how healthily people are expected to live.
4. Freedom to make life choices
β How free people feel to make decisions about their own lives.
5. Generosity
β Willingness to help others, donate, and show kindness.
6. Perception of corruption
β How much people trust their government and public institutions.
All these factors together create a happiness score (0β10), which determines a countryβs rank.
3) How is the data collected?

β’ Survey method:
People are asked to rate their life using the Cantril Ladder, where
0 = worst possible life
10 = best possible life

The rankings are based on an average of three years of data (2022β2024).
4) Why some countries rank higher or lower?

Strong social trust, low corruption, good healthcare, high freedom, and strong community support.
β’ Lower-ranked countries:
Often affected by war, poverty, political instability, insecurity, weak healthcare, and lack of social support (e.g., Afghanistan).
