When someone scans the QR code with their phone, they will be able to see details about the project, including the contractor’s name, the officers supervising the work, contact information, project cost, and the expected completion timeline.
This move is meant to ensure that people know who is responsible for each stretch of road work, instead of blaming the minister or the government in general if there are delays or quality issues. By knowing exactly who the contractor is and which government officials are overseeing the project, citizens can directly raise concerns or report problems if the work is unsatisfactory.
Along with QR codes, the ministry has also directed that progress videos of ongoing highway projects be uploaded regularly on public platforms like YouTube. This will allow citizens to visually track construction updates and monitor whether the work is progressing as planned.
Overall, this initiative aims to bring openness to highway development, improve project quality, and reduce corruption or negligence. It is a step towards making infrastructure development in India more citizen-friendly and responsible, ensuring that public funds and public trust are both respected.
